LMT Defense MARS-LS Shovelnose Features
The LMT Defense MARS-LS Shovelnose is a piston-operated short-barreled rifle built around LMT’s monolithic upper receiver system and fully ambidextrous MARS-L lower. This 5.56 NATO SBR uses a compact 12-inch configuration intended for professional, defensive, and suppressor-capable carbine applications. Its short-stroke piston system and adjustable gas block help manage fouling and cycling characteristics across suppressed and unsuppressed setups.
The Shovelnose upper uses LMT’s Monolithic Rail Platform, which is machined from a single aluminum forging for rigidity and consistent accessory alignment. In addition, the quick-change barrel interface provides full 360-degree barrel lockup and supports barrel changes while maintaining a stable optic and accessory platform. The 11.5-inch M-LOK handguard gives users seven-sided M-LOK coverage with an uninterrupted top Picatinny rail for optics, lights, lasers, and support accessories. The MARS-LS lower provides fully ambidextrous controls, including the safety, bolt catch, bolt release, and magazine release. An ambidextrous charging handle, SOPMOD stock, G2 grip, and AXLE two-stage trigger round out the control package. With its chrome-lined piston barrel, full-auto rated piston carrier group, and monolithic Shovelnose chassis, the LMT Defense MARS-LS Shovelnose is a compact NFA rifle built for high-control, hard-use 5.56 applications.
