Smith & Wesson Model 10-9 is a Pre-Owned K-Frame revolver built on the long-running Military & Police design and configured with the traditional tapered barrel profile. This engineering variation retains the classic double-action/single-action operating system that made the Model 10 a widely used service and defensive revolver. The shorter tapered barrel gives the revolver a lighter muzzle feel and more compact handling than the heavy-barreled versions commonly associated with later law-enforcement use. Its straightforward steel construction and fixed-sight layout also make it suitable for collection, range use, and traditional defensive applications.
The Model 10-9 uses Smith & Wesson’s medium-size K-Frame, balancing durability with a slimmer profile than the company’s larger N-Frame revolvers. Its exposed hammer allows both double-action firing and manually cocked single-action operation for a lighter trigger pull. The defining tapered or “pencil” barrel reduces forward weight compared with the heavy-barrel Model 10 variants, giving the revolver a distinctly traditional balance and appearance. A swing-out cylinder provides familiar loading and unloading operation, while fixed sights maintain the simple service-oriented configuration associated with the Military & Police lineage. The blued steel finish preserves the classic appearance of the platform. Produced during the late 1980s and 1990s, the 10-9 represents one of the later engineering variations to retain the standard tapered-barrel configuration. This example includes its box.
