Smith & Wesson Model 28-2 Highway Patrolman is a Pre-Owned N-Frame revolver built around Smith & Wesson’s large-frame double-action/single-action operating system. Developed as a durable, duty-oriented .357 Magnum revolver, the Highway Patrolman emphasized strength, reliability, and practical service use over the more highly polished presentation of some contemporary Smith & Wesson models. The 28-2 engineering variation became one of the longest-running versions of the model and is closely associated with mid-20th-century law-enforcement use. Its substantial steel frame and traditional revolver controls also make it well suited to range use and collecting.
The Model 28-2 uses Smith & Wesson’s heavy N-Frame architecture, providing the mass and structural strength needed for sustained use with magnum ammunition. Its exposed hammer supports both conventional double-action firing and manually cocked single-action operation for a lighter, more deliberate trigger pull.
