The Winchester SXP High Grade Field is a pump-action 12 gauge built on Winchester's Super X Pump platform, dressed up with a higher grade Turkish Walnut stock and a gloss blued receiver and barrel. The SXP action runs on an inertia-assisted design with a four-lug rotary bolt, which is where the line earned its reputation for short, fast stroking. This 28 inch configuration with a 3 inch chamber suits upland hunting, dove fields, and casual clays work equally well.
Fit and finish sit a step above the standard Field model. The stock carries Laser 18 LPI checkering under a satin varnish, the receiver and barrel wear a gloss blued finish, and an Inflex Technology recoil pad takes the edge off heavier field loads. At roughly 7 pounds 2 ounces with a 14 inch length of pull, it handles like a traditional field gun rather than a dedicated target shotgun.
