Description
The H&R Retro DOE Pistol is a 9mm AR-platform pistol built to mirror the Department of Energy submachine guns that guarded nuclear facilities and federal transport details in the 1980s. Harrington & Richardson reproduced the look down to the triangular M231-style handguard and slickside upper, then chambered it as a direct blowback 9mm that feeds from Colt-pattern magazines. Shooters chasing period-correct aesthetics without a registered receiver will find this the closest civilian analog available.
The 7.5-inch barrel keeps the package short and front-heavy in the way the originals handled, and the HAR-15 adjustable brace keeps the configuration legal as a pistol. ASC and Metalform magazines are the recommended feeding options, and one 20-round magazine ships with the pistol.

- Slickside 9mm upper with carry-handle iron sights completes the retro silhouette and gives you usable sights out of the box
- 4150 chrome moly vanadium barrel in a lightweight profile with a nitride finish and 1:10 twist, cut for standard and heavier 9mm loads
- 5/8x24 threaded muzzle under a thread protector opens the door to a suppressor or other muzzle hardware
- Direct blowback bolt carrier keeps the 9mm system simple with fewer parts to maintain than a gas-driven conversion
- H&R HAR-15 adjustable pistol brace and A2-style grip hold the classic lines while allowing length adjustment for different shooters
