This Pre-Owned Colt Government MKIV Series 80 is a full-size 1911 in .45 ACP, built in stainless steel and shipped during Colt's 150th Anniversary year of 1986. The serial number SS04598 places it early in Colt's stainless Government production, which began only a couple of years before this pistol left West Hartford. Smooth walnut grips and the satin stainless frame and slide give it the understated look collectors associate with mid-1980s Colt work.
Series 80 guns added a firing pin block to the traditional single action 1911 design, making this a practical shooter as well as a piece with some history behind it. Sights are the period-correct fixed arrangement, a square notch rear paired with a ramped front blade. The pistol comes with one 7-round magazine and the maroon 150th Anniversary box that Colt used for firearms shipped in 1986.
