The Orthos Raider S4 Alpine Elite is a gas-operated semi-automatic 12 gauge built around an 18.5 inch chrome lined barrel and a 7075-T6 aluminum receiver. Orthos positions it at the upper end of their defensive and competition shotgun line, with the furniture produced in partnership with Black River Manufacturing and an Alpine camo Cerakote finish over a carbon fiber stock. Shooters who want a tactical-pattern autoloader that comes equipped from the box, rather than one that needs a parts list to be usable, are the target here.
Recoil management comes from the patented SHOCK FORCE system in the buttstock, which keeps 3 inch magnum loads manageable across a long range session. The adjustable comb and adjustable cheek pad let you set eye height behind the ghost ring sights or a mounted optic, and the oversized controls make the gun easy to run under speed. Orthos recommends loads rated 1250 FPS or higher for consistent cycling, along with a 50 round break-in using heavy high brass ammunition.
