The Orthos Raider S4 is a gas-operated semi-automatic 12 gauge built around an 18.5-inch chrome-lined barrel and a 7075-T6 hardened aluminum receiver. It sits in the defensive and tactical shotgun category rather than the field category, with a collapsible stock, M-LOK handguard, and a top Picatinny rail already in place for an optic. Shooters who want a modern fighting shotgun without assembling a parts list to get there will find most of the usual upgrades installed from the factory.
Orthos chambers the Raider S4 for both 2 3/4-inch and 3-inch shells, and the patented SHOCK FORCE recoil system in the stock takes the edge off heavier magnum loads. Orthos recommends a 50-round break-in with high brass heavy loads, and ammunition rated at 1250 FPS or higher for consistent cycling. The shotgun ships with a combat sling, a breacher choke tube, and the owner's manual, and carries a lifetime warranty.
