The Ruger 10/22 Takedown Backpacker is a rimfire semi-automatic rifle built on Ruger's long-running 10/22 platform, set up for shooters who want the rifle to travel as easily as the rest of their gear. A recessed lever at the front of the receiver lets the barrel assembly separate from the action without tools, dropping the package down to a size that fits in a pack, a truck box, or a boat bag. Reassembly indexes back to the same point, so zero holds between trips.
Magpul's X-22 Backpacker stock does most of the work on the portability side. The buttstock stores the separated barrel assembly, the cheek piece hides a compartment sized for spare magazines or small gear, and QD sling sockets are molded in. Trail guns, camp rifles, pack-out small game work, and general plinking all fall squarely in this rifle's lane, and the standard 10/22 magazine well means the usual rotary and extended magazines still fit.
