Overview
The Byrna SD Kinetic Kit is a powerful, non-lethal self-defense option designed to give users confidence, range, and reliable performance without the need for permits or background checks. Updated from the original Byrna HD, the SD model features improved ergonomics, upgraded sights, and enhanced performance. Firing .68 caliber kinetic or training projectiles at speeds up to 280 fps, the Byrna SD can deter threats effectively from up to 60 feet away. Performance & Design
Powered by an 8-gram CO₂ cartridge, the Byrna SD uses patented Pull-Pierce Technology, keeping the CO₂ sealed until the first trigger pull—ensuring the launcher remains charged and ready with no gas loss over time. The launcher produces an energy density of 30 J/in², offering meaningful stopping capability while remaining non-lethal. Each CO₂ cartridge provides approximately 22 shots per charge, and the included 5-round magazines allow for fast reloads.
Ergonomics & Controls
The honeycomb over-molded grip provides secure handling and enhanced comfort under stress. An ambidextrous safety allows intuitive operation for both left- and right-handed users. The compact profile makes the SD suitable for home defense, vehicle carry, hiking, or general self-protection.
Sights & Optics
Improved iron sights provide quicker target acquisition, and the integrated Picatinny rail allows users to add lights or accessories for enhanced capability in low-light environments.
