Description
The SureFire SOCOM556-RC Gen2 is a 5.56mm Fast-Attach suppressor built around the company's USSOCOM contract work, offered here in an FDE body color. It carries a 6.4-inch overall length and a 1.5-inch diameter, a size chosen to balance sound and flash reduction against added weight on the muzzle. Bore rating covers 5.56 NATO and 223 Remington hosts, which puts M4/M16-variant carbines, AR pistols, and bolt guns in that chambering squarely within its range, provided the barrel is at least 10 inches.
SureFire's signature reduction design targets more than decibels. First-round flash, dust signature, and visible flash are all addressed, with flash suppression rated up to 99.3 percent over a bare muzzle. Internal venting bleeds off back pressure to keep cyclic rate, gas blowback, and operating temperatures down, which matters on short-barreled hosts and during sustained strings. Shooters running a duty or training rifle who want a can that mounts fast, holds zero shift predictably, and survives hard use will find this one sits in familiar territory.
SureFire SOCOM556-RC Gen2 Features
- Fast-Attach mounting works with SureFire flash hiders, muzzle brakes, and WARCOMP adapters, so the can goes on and comes off by hand without tools
- High-temperature Inconel alloy and stainless steel construction stands up to full-auto fire and sustained-rate shooting
- Internal venting reduces back pressure and gas blowback, lowering cyclic rate and keeping the host rifle running cooler
- Total Signature Reduction design knocks down first-round flash along with sound and dust signature, keeping the shooter's position harder to spot
- Tight tolerances and concentric bore alignment help preserve accuracy and repeatable point of impact when the suppressor is remounted
- DLC and Cerakote finish in Dark Earth protects the body through heat cycles and hard handling
