The Magnum Research Mark XIX is the full-size Desert Eagle platform chambered in .50 Action Express, built around a gas-operated action rather than the recoil-driven designs common to most large-bore handguns. That system, borrowed in principle from rifle design, cycles the slide using gas tapped from the barrel and locks up through a rotating three-lug bolt.
