Description
This Pre-Owned Mossberg Maverick 88 Security is a 12 gauge pump action shotgun built on the proven Mossberg 500 operating system with a simplified parts set and a cross bolt safety at the front of the trigger guard. The 20-inch cylinder bore barrel and seven round tubular magazine put it squarely in the home defense and truck gun category, and the same configuration has long served as an entry point for new shotgun shooters working through drills on the range.
Chambered for 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells, it runs buckshot, slugs, and birdshot without adjustment. The aluminum receiver and synthetic furniture keep the handling straightforward and the maintenance minimal. This example comes with its original box.
Mossberg Maverick 88 Security Features
- Dual action bars keep the slide traveling straight under hard, fast cycling and help prevent binding
- 20-inch barrel with a bead front sight gives a short, maneuverable package for close quarters work
- Seven round tubular magazine plus one in the chamber for eight total rounds on board
- 3-inch chamber accepts both 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells, from light target loads to heavy buck and slugs
- Cross bolt safety forward of the trigger guard sits within easy reach of the trigger finger
- Synthetic stock and forend shrug off weather and rough handling better than wood
