Complete instruction for obtaining or renewing a Minnesota Permit to Carry. Live-fire qualification followed by classroom instruction — certificate provided upon completion.

Classroom Instruction

After qualification — finishes ~2:30 PM

Covers Minnesota law, safety principles, and real-world carry guidance.

For classes with 15+ attendees, the entire class (including the classroom portion) takes place at the North Metro Regional Training Facility.

What to Bring

  • Valid government-issued photo ID
  • Eye and ear protection (loaners available)
  • Closed-toe shoes required

Qualification Requirements

This is not an introductory handgun course — attendees should have prior handgun experience before signing up. Students must demonstrate safe handling and consistent accuracy during live-fire qualification. Unsafe behavior or failure to follow instructor direction may result in removal without refund. A supervised re-attempt may be offered when time allows.

Registration & Refunds

  • Pre-registration required — limited seating
  • Reschedule anytime into the next available class
  • Full refund if cancelled 48+ hours before class
  • No-shows may reschedule but are not eligible for refund

Eligibility & Completion

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must be legally eligible to possess a firearm
  • Open to first-time applicants and renewals
  • Signed certificate provided for new and renewal applications
